Kumbeno Memory (Founder & Head Instructor of Varsity & JV)

 

Coach Memory has been coaching for nearly 10 years and has helped develop some of the best players to come out of the state of Oregon!  He began coaching in 2002 with the TYBA (Tualatin Youth Basketball Association) and coached the 8th grade A team.  From there started Hoop Dreams Basketball and began training.   In 2003, Coach Memory was named the Assistant Coach of the Portland Reign, a professional ABA team!  He also has been the founder & head coach of the I-5 Elite 17u team for the last 3 years, which has sent over 30 players to college!  Also, doing work with Nike as a consultant (Technical Director) on numerous photo/digital shoots including:  Lebron James, Andrei Kirilenko, Deron Williams, Elton Brand, Jason Richardson, Amare Stoudamire, Jason Kidd, Chris Paul, Tayshaun Prince, and Ben Gordan to name a few.  Coach Memory also has worked with NBA coaches – Mo Cheeks (Oklahoma City Thunder), Tim Grgurich (Denver Nuggets), Dan Pannagio (LA Lakers), John Loyer (NJ Nets), Benard Smith (Philadelphia 76′ers) and Bob Medina (Portland Trail Blazers) and has gained a wealth of knowledge from those experiences!  He has also worked numerous camps (Scottie Pippen, Ime Udoka, Brian Grant, Damon Stoudamire and Cliff Robinson) to enhance his coaching/teaching abilities over the years!  Coach Memory is a true student of the game and has a great deal of passion and love for the game of basketball and helping players develop and improve!

Keith Carroll (Assistant Instructor/Head Instructor of Hoop Stars)

 

Coach Carroll was an All-City basketball and All-State soccer player at Wilson High School and graduated in 2002!  He then moved on to play bothbasketball and soccer at Monmouth College (Ill.) for 2 years and then transferred to Linfield for 2 years.  Coach Carroll has been the program director for the Hoop Stars program for the last 2 years and  has been apart of the Hoop Dreams program for 8 years now and is somebody who has a gift for teaching and relating to kids of all ages!  His ability to see what player’s need to improve on and implementing it as well as making the environment fun and exciting is what separates Coach Carroll from other coaches in the area!  He is a valued and we are extremely happy Coach Carroll is apart of the Hoop Dreams family!

Earl Clark (Assistant Instructor Varsity & JV & Private’s)

 

Coach Clark was an All-PIL and All-State basketball player at Benson High School, graduating in 1995.  He then went on to attend the College of the Sequoia’s (CA.) while avg. 20pts and 7assts per game, graduating in 1997.  After that he Earned a full-ride basketball scholarship to attend the University of Pacific in Stockton, CA.  While there Coach Clark played alongside Michael Olowokandi , the #1 pick in the 1998 NBA Draft!  He played there for his sophomore and junior years.  Then attended Cal State Dominguez Hills (CA) for his senior year to finish his playing career.   Coming back to Portland, Coach Clark finished his Bachelor’s Degree  & graduated at Portland State University.  Coach Clark immediately went back to his alma mater to coach the JV program and assist the boys Varsity program for Benson High School.   After coaching at Benson for 4 years he went on to be the Head Coach at LaSalle College Preparatory school for the last 6 years!  Coach Clark brings a tremendous amount of knowledge and passion to the Hoop Dreams program and we are blessed to have him apart of our family!

Varsity:
(Advanced) - For the serious basketball player that wants to play at the highest level.

Junior Varsity: (Beginner/Intermediate) - This program embraces the comprehension of the base fundamentals needed to advance to the "Creative Freedom" level of teaching.

Hoop Stars:
(Beginner) - This program introduces players to the game of basketball.
